REACH OUT

IN EMERGENCIES, PLEASE DIAL 911

Maybe you feel like you're asking for too much. Maybe you think other people have their own problems and yours aren't worth bringing up. Maybe you've gotten so used to hiding how you feel that you don't know how to talk about it anymore.
You don't have to earn the right to be heard.
You are allowed to need someone, too.
You don't have to wait until things get worse to reach out. You don't have to know what to say. You don't have to be okay. You just have to take the first step, and we'll take it from there, together.

ABOUT
SURGES

Surges is an online project created to prevent Suicide and promote positive mental health for adults and youth alike.Surges was created in 2026 and forked off from S.T.A.Y (Another Suicide Prevention Project started in 2023)Surges focuses on keeping the person who reaches out anonymous.People think that reaching out or asking for help damages their reputation, or maybe that they aren't worth the help that is provided.
Men and Women alike are told their feelings don't matter and their mental health isn't a concern.
Told that they should just keep quiet and take it on the chin.
Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet so many of us learn to hide our struggles, convincing ourselves that we're supposed to handle everything on our own. We tell ourselves that other people have it worse, that our problems aren't serious enough, or that reaching out would only make us a burden to someone else. Sometimes, we become so accustomed to saying "I'm fine" that we forget we're allowed to say anything else. But you don't have to wait until you're at your breaking point to deserve support. You don't have to have a diagnosis, a tragic story, or a reason that you think is good enough to explain why you're hurting.

Imagine This.Imagine someone sitting alone in their room after a difficult day, staring at their phone and thinking about messaging a friend. They type out what they're feeling, hesitate, and delete every word because they're afraid of being judged, ignored, or misunderstood. They tell themselves that they'll be okay tomorrow and decide not to say anything. Maybe tomorrow is better, but maybe the same feelings return the following night. Now imagine that, instead of keeping everything bottled up, they find a place where they can reach out anonymously, without the pressure of revealing their identity or explaining themselves perfectly. They send a simple message: "I'm not doing okay, and I don't know who to talk to." That message might not solve everything they're facing, but it can be the beginning of something important: no longer having to carry those feelings entirely alone. Sometimes, being heard is the first step toward finding the strength to seek further help, to talk to someone they trust, or to believe that things might be different someday. That's why talking matters. Sharing what you're going through doesn't make you weak, selfish, or a burden. It gives your feelings somewhere to go instead of forcing you to carry them in silence. SURGES exists to offer a place where you can reach out, be heard without judgment, and talk about what's on your mind anonymously. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing. You don't need to know where to begin, and you don't need to pretend that everything is okay. We may not have all the answers, and a conversation may not fix everything, but your feelings deserve to be taken seriously, and you deserve support.

Fran's Story from samaritans.orgFran was in a place where the pain she was carrying had become almost unbearable. After a suicide attempt, she found herself away from the hospital, alone in London, still struggling with thoughts of ending her life. Then something happened that she may never have expected: a stranger approached her and started a conversation. That woman didn't know Fran's history. She didn't know what had brought her there or how much she was hurting. She simply took the time to talk with her. For about an hour, she listened, shared a little of her own story, and treated Fran like a person who mattered. She even offered to go with her to a hospital so she wouldn't have to face that next step alone.Fran later explained that the encounter helped interrupt her suicidal thoughts. She chose to return home rather than end her life that day.Think about that for a moment. The woman couldn't erase Fran's pain. She couldn't promise that tomorrow would be easy or that every problem would disappear. She didn't need to. She was there, in that moment, when Fran needed another human being to notice her and care enough to stay.We may never know what someone is carrying behind a quiet voice, a forced smile, or a simple "I'm fine." And we cannot always see the moments when someone is struggling to find a reason to keep going. But we can make room for people to speak honestly. We can listen without judging them, and we can help them find further support when they need it.You don't have to know someone's whole story to show them that their life matters. That's the heart behind SURGES. A place to reach out when you don't know who else to tell. A place where you can begin with a few words, without having to reveal your identity. A place to be honest about what you're feeling instead of pretending you're okay.If you're reading this while struggling yourself, please know that you don't have to wait for a stranger to notice your pain. You can reach out. You can tell someone you're not okay. You deserve to be heard before things become unbearable, not only after. One conversation cannot promise to change everything. But it can be a first step toward getting through this moment and finding the support you deserve.
